The Florida Highway Patrol was aggressively monitoring 96-hour Memorial Day holiday weekend, which began on Friday, May 25, 2007 and went through Monday, May 28.

In 2005, last year’s Memorial Day holiday period, 54 people were killed in 51 traffic crashes. Of the 54 people killed, 54% were alcohol-related crashes. Even worse, 63% of those killed were not wearing their seat belts. Don’t let this be you or someone you love. These types of holidays are often referred to as drinking holidays. If this is the case, try one of these alternatives below versus getting on the road after a couple of drinks.

DUI Lawyers only help after you get caught. Don’t drink and drive.

We implore all of you to wear your seat belt and to designate a driver before going out. Downtown Orlando offers rickshaws for fee. Drinking and driving can cost you your life as a worse case scenario, or it can cost you thousands of dollars if convicted for a DUI in court costs and lawyer fees, not including the inconvenience of losing your license for a time period. This is a costly price to pay when a better alternative is available.

Alternatives options for getting a DUI in Orlando, which include:

  • Downtown Orlando Rickshaws
  • Cabs
  • Designated drives
  • Calling a friend or family member to get you
  • Walking instead of driving

Orient Express Rickshaws (OEX) has been serving this area’s nightlife patrons since 2004 with a fleet of the highest level pedicabs.

A friendly reminder from Florida Highway Patrol

Motorists are reminded to use their cellular phones safely. FHP urges motorists with cell phones to call *FHP (*347) to report aggressive and/or drunk drivers or if they need assistance on the road. Motorists needing emergency services should dial 911. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles encourages all with a valid Florida Driver License or Identification Card to visit www.hsmv.state.fl.us and input their Emergency Contact Information.
